As Medical Advisor to UPyTher, Prof. Kurt van der Speeten contributes extensive expertise in the pharmacology and clinical application of intraperitoneal therapies. Internationally recognized for his work on optimizing pharmacokinetics and therapeutic outcomes in peritoneal oncology, he provides valuable insight into the clinical feasibility and development of UPyTher’s hydrogel-based therapies. His expertise in intraperitoneal drug pharmacology and treatment strategies supports the company’s clinical development and translational activities. Prof. van der Speeten is Surgical Oncology Coordinator in the Department of Visceral Surgery at the Hospital Oost-Limburg (ZOL) in Genk (Belgium) and Professor of Pharmacology and Surgery at Hasselt University. He has co-authored more than 150 peer-reviewed publications, participated in numerous multicenter clinical trials. He is also a member of PSOGI , ISSPP and has received accolades such as the EurOPA Excellence Award in Peritoneal Oncology.
